THE Toc H CEREMONY OF LIGHT The ceremony of light is an act of rededication. The Light represents that spirit which members aim to maintain continually in their own lives and activities and in their branches. For the ceremony, all present stand and form a circle around the Lamp or Rushlight. The lights in the room are then turned off, and the leader lights the Lamp or Rushlight saying: Light Leader: With proud thanksgiving let us remember our Elder Brethren (especially....... ) Short Pause They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning At which We will remember them. All repeat: We will remember them. One minutes silence Leader: Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works. All: And glorify our Father which is in heaven. After a pause, the room lights are put on again and the Lamp or Rushlight is extinguished.
For the ceremony all stand in a circle around the Lamp or Rushlight. All the lights in the room are turned off. The member appointed lights the Lamp or Rushlight and says: Light Let us give thanks for the life/lives of (by name) We are called to be instruments of God's will. Where there is hatred, let us bring love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is sadness, joy; And where there is darkness, let us bring light. One Minute's silence Leader: Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works. All: And glorify our Father which is in heaven. After a pause the room lights are put on again and then the Lamp or Rushlight is extinguished.
