11th December 1885– The Reverend Dr P. B. (Tubby) Clayton the founder of Toc H born in Maryborough Queensland Australia.
 


1914 – Great War begins.

1915 – July 11th - Gilbert Talbot – Close friend of Tubby Killed.

1915 – December 12th – Talbot House (named after Gilbert Talbot) in town of Poperinghe Belgium opens its doors as a Rest and Recreation Centre for Allied Personnel.

1918 – World War ends on November 11th at 1100 Hours
 


1920 – The earliest Aims of Toc H, the Four Points of the Compass, were drawn up.

1922 – Toc H was Granted a Royal Charter.

1923 – Lord Forster, the Governor General of Australia, wrote to “Tubby” Clayton saying that he would like to endow a Toc H Lamp of Maintenance in memory of his two sons killed in World War 1.

1924 – The Forster Lamp was lit by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales at a Toc H Festival in London.

1924 – Padre H. E. E. Hayes arrives in Australia and becomes the Honorary Toc H Padre of Australia.

1924 – Lord Forster called a meeting at Federal Government House in Melbourne to discuss Toc H. Over 500 people attended.

1925 – ‘Tubby’ Clayton and the Reverend Pat Leonard arrive in Australia.

1925 – Toc H starts in Australia

1925 – July – ‘Tubby’ initiates the first members of Toc H in Queensland.

1926 – The Link Magazine – The Journal of Toc H Australia is first published.

1926 – The Exhibition Outing (The EKKA) for patients from the Royal Brisbane Children’s Hospital is initiated by Brisbane Branch members.

1926 – Central Branch South Australia first meets

1926 – 30th September – The Forster Lamp is lit at Christ Church Cathedral New Castle New South Wales. It is the Parent Lamp of Toc H Australia. 2000 people attended.

1928 – Toc H members in Brisbane repair and renovate the premises of the District Nurses Association.

1928 – Three hundred children were entertained at a Christmas Party in Brisbane.

1929 – Toc H members pioneer the Blood Transfusion Service in Australia.

1929 – The first World Chain of Light Service begins in Perth Western Australia.

1929 – Payneham Branch Starts

1929 – Unley Branch starts
 

1932 – Townsville Toc H members arrange to bring children from Richmond and Cloncurry to St Ann’s School for a holiday.
1933 – First Camp held at Victor Harbour South Australia
1935 – Sir Leslie Wilson, Governor of Queensland challenged Toc H in Maryborough to do something for the children of the Central West.
1935 – A group of children are bought to Maryborough. Many are treated by doctors, all of who are Toc H Members.
1935 – Victor Harbour Branch started
1935 – Victor Harbour Children’s Christmas Camps begun
1935 – December – The Royal Queensland Bush Children’s Scheme is officially inaugurated.
1936 – 21st Anniversary Celebrations of Toc H Australia held here and in England
1938 – The Australian Toc H Festival is held in Brisbane.
1938 – South Australia - Winston Dugan Camp at Victor Harbour named after South Australian Governor.
1939 – Edwardstown Branch South Australia opens.
1939 – Mitcham Branch South Australia opens.
1939 – 11 Toc H Groups in South Australia
1939 – September - World War Two Starts.
 


1940 – 6th October – The Brisbane Services Club opens.

1943 – 5th February – The Cairns Services Hostel (Talbot House) opens under the stewardship of Reg and Norma Morris at the Grand Hotel on the corner of Shields and McLeod Streets.

1943 – 5th June – The Townsville Services Club is opened by His Excellency Sir Leslie Wilson. Over 200, 000 meals are served in the first year of operation.

1943 – Toc H League of Women’s Helpers in South Australia becomes Toc H Women’s Section.

1943 – Toc H operates in Prisoner of War camps including Changi and the Burma – Thailand Railway.

1943 – 25th December – Christmas Lunch is served at the Cairns Services Hostel in Cairns.

1945 – World War Two ends in September.

1947 – The first Toc H Midnight Service is held at the Brisbane Shrine of Remembrance on ANZAC Eve.

1947 - Renmark Branch starts in South Australia

1947 - Fullarton Branch in South Australia Starts

1949 – Polio Epidemic across Australia – South Australian members with children form an afternoon group and visit those afflicted.
 

 

1950 – Toc H in Cairns disbanded

1950 and 1951 – New Toc H Groups established by Harold Gascoigne, Queensland Area Secretary.

1952 – Tubby visits South Australia

1952 – First girls camp at Victor Harbour.

1953 – 400 Toc H Members in South Australia

1954 – Brian Lynes, Queensland Area Secretary carries out Extension Work.

1957 – Marsden Boy’s Home is painted by Toc H Members.
 


1960 – Ray Geise leaves for England to be ‘Tubby’ Clayton’s private secretary at All Hallows Church, Tower Hill, London.

1962 – First Australian Conference held at Retreat House Belair South Australia.

1962 – Brisbane Branch members were very much involved with OPAL (One People of Australia League).

1962 – Brisbane Branch members helped pioneer Multiple Sclerosis Society.

1965 – Bribie Island Project commenced when Toc H leases land at Woorim.

1966 – Bribie Island Branch starts
 


1970 – The Bribie Island Project Committee is given the opportunity to take over Coungeau House.

1971 – Coungeau House is purchased by the Bribie Island Project.

1972 – Reverend P.B Clayton passes away aged 87

1974 - Coungeau House is officially opened by Australian Commissioner Douglas Dickinson.

1977 – The Church of St Michael and All Angels at New Farm Brisbane becomes the Guild Church of Toc H Queensland.
 

 

1980 – Toc H Queensland hosts a National Conference in Brisbane.

1981 – Senator Neville Bonner inducts 15 students at St Paul’s School Brisbane into its new Toc H Group.

1984 – Northern Suburbs Branch of Brisbane started.

1984 – Toc H in the Sunshine State Magazine is first published.

1984 – First camp for disabled children held at Victor Harbour South Australia

1984 – Toc H Youth Leadership Course held at Coungeau House Bribie Island Qld.

1985 – Pine Rivers Group formed in Queensland.

1985 – Pine Rivers Group starts a camping program for children in need and or at risk.

1985 – The World Chain of Light Service starts in Maryborough Queensland.

1985 – Toc H Australia celebrates 60 Years of Service

1987 – South Australia office opens in Light Terrace Thebarton

1988 – A Gymkhana, Sports Day and Calf Show is organised by Toc H Queensland Members as part of Australia’s Bicentennial celebrations. This event in Queensland is shown on the 6pm Sunday Evening National Nine News.

1988 – The Queensland Friends of Talbot House Poperinghe is formed.

1989 – Toc H National Conference and a National Youth Leadership Course held at Nudgee College Brisbane.

1989 – Pine Rivers Group organises a Christmas Break up dinner for all Queensland Toc H Members at the Golden Palace Chinese Restaurant in Fortitude Valley Brisbane.
 


1990 – World Chain of Light Service held in Townsville Queensland.

1992 – 7th May – The C.E. Smith Memorial Lamp is presented to the newly re-established Townsville Branch.

1992 – 10th May – Toc H Cairns Branch is re-established at St John’s Anglican Church.

1992 – Dick Skinner is elected first Chairman of St John’s Toc H Cairns

1992 – November –  Toc H Cairns donates $300 towards the construction of the Cairns PCYC.

1992 - 23rd May – The Queensland General Members Branch is formed.

1992 – Toc H Book Exchange and Thrift Shop opens at Coungeau House Bribie Is.

1992 – December 12th - Toc H Cairns holds World Chain of Light Service.

1993 – Townsville Branch organises a concert at Bishop’s Lodge to raise money for homeless people.

1993 – Cairns Toc H provide food to patrons at Rugby International held at Buchan St

1995 – Townsville Branch stages a musical “A Night of Glorious Entertainment” in the Civic Theatre as part of Australia Remembers Celebrations. Over 1000 people attend.

1995 – Richard Skinner Jnr is killed in a car accident on Bruce Highway Cairns.

 

1997 – World Chain of Light Service starts in Adelaide

1998 – National Youth Leadership Course held at Mt Mee Queensland. Kylie Jackson and Jamie Healey from Cairns attend.

1998 – Memorial to Tubby’s Cairn Terrier ‘Chippy’ unveiled in Maryborough Qld.

1998 – Brisbane Toc H Action Group formed at the University of Queensland.

1998 – Toc H Cairns financially supports Reef Festival.

1999 – Toc H Cairns introduces “The SAINT JOHN’S Toc H CAIRNS BRANCH CERTIFICATE” for its Youth Leadership Course participants.

1999 – Toc H Cairns and St John’s Church have information booth at Cairns Show.

1999 – National Toc H Week is celebrated by all Branches.

1999 - Toc H Cairns financially supports Reef Festival.
 

 

2000 – Toc H Australia Celebrates 75 Years.

2000 – Toc H Cairns begins holding Mayor’s Breakfast

2000 - Toc H Cairns and St John’s Church have information booth at Cairns Show.

2000 - Toc H Cairns financially supports Reef Festival

2001 – Toc H Cairns begins holding the Ryan Anthony Lui Memorial Breakfast

2001 – Happy Wanderers perform at St John’s Church Hall

2001 – 12th December - Rhys Michael Presentation Dinner is started by Toc H Cairns as part of World Chain of Light Service.

2002 – SAINT JOHN’S Toc H CAIRNS celebrates 10 years with a dinner. Ray Geise Australian Chairman attends.

2003 – August - Toc H Cairns begins Confidence Training Course.

2006 – March 20th – Cyclone Larry Category 5 Storm devastates large sections of Far North Queensland (Innisfail takes full fury).

2006 – Toc H Cairns and Toc H Brisbane conduct joint raffle and donation is made to Cyclone Larry Appeal.

2006 – Toc H Cairns has Junior Team in Relay for Life captained by Claire Campbell

2006 Toc H League of Helpers starts in Brisbane

2007 – May 10th - Toc H Cairns celebrates 15 years with a Meeting.

2007 – May – Toc H Cairns celebrates 15 years with a Dinner – Major General Darryl Low Choy (Australian Toc H National President) as guest speaker.

2007 – Areanda Soemardi at age 24 becomes Branch Patron

2007 – Toc H Cairns has Junior Team in Relay for Life captained by Kallum Lovelock

2007 – Bill Ewin (Cairns Member) becomes Life Member of Toc H Australia.

2007 – Chris Dunlop from Cairns becomes Helper of Toc H.
