Brisbane’s Shrine of Remembrance

In the early hours of ANZAC Day, members of Toc H Queensland and the wider community gathered at Brisbane’s Shrine of Remembrance for the 79th annual Toc H Queensland ANZAC Midnight Service.

The service provided a meaningful opportunity for reflection, remembrance and gratitude as we honoured the service and sacrifice of all who have served our nation. The respectful presence of everyone who attended helped create a dignified commemoration in keeping with the spirit and significance of ANZAC Day.

Toc H Queensland extends its sincere appreciation to the Queensland University Musical Society (QUMS) for its beautiful choral contributions and to the 129 Army Cadet Unit Enoggera for serving with dedication as the Catafalque Party.

We also thank Charlie Ridgway for his moving bugle calls and Amanda from 1300MEDICS for providing medical support throughout the event. Our gratitude also goes to the Toc H members and representatives from Scenic Rim Regional Cadets Inc. who generously assisted with setting up and packing down the event. Their contribution behind the scenes was essential to the service’s success.

Thanking Fr Lindsay Howie

A special thank you to Fr Lindsay Howie

This year’s service held particular significance, as it was the final ANZAC Midnight Service officiated by Fr Lindsay Howie in his role as Toc H Queensland Chaplain.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fr Howie for his dedicated service to Toc H Queensland and for the care, guidance and fellowship he has provided throughout his time as Chaplain. His contribution to the ANZAC Midnight Service and the wider Toc H community has been deeply valued, and we wish him all the very best following his decision to step down from the role.

Each participant played an important part in ensuring the 79th annual service was both memorable and respectful. Toc H Queensland is deeply grateful to everyone who contributed or attended, helping us continue this important tradition of honouring those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
