In light of recent measures announced by both federal and state governments regarding COVID-19, Toc H Australia is taking precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of our members and the wider community.
Namely, it is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of our annual ANZAC Eve Midnight Service as well as our participation in the ANZAC Day march, in Brisbane, Queensland. We strongly encourage all our members and the wider community to follow the guidelines and strategies issued by the Government to help slow the speed of community transmission of COVID-19 and, most importantly, protect those most vulnerable in our community.
We understand that you may be disappointed with these changes; however, this decision was not made lightly, and we will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any updates as they become available.
As many people around the world would know, Talbot House was the birthplace of the Toc H Movement over one hundred years ago. Today it stands just as it was when it was opened in 1915, and besides being one of Belgium’s national treasures, it is a place of Peace and Reconciliation. It has been a place of pilgrimage for tens of thousands of people and the special ethos of the place has inspired the Toc H Movement worldwide, including Australia. Now, during the Corona Virus Pandemic, it is in need of funds to ensure its survival, and towards this end a number of Toc H members and their friends in Australia have indicated their wish to help. Members of the Toc H Queensland General Members Branch have opened a special account with Suncorp Bank to receive donations. Details of the account are as follows: BSB: 484 -799 ACCOUNT NUMBER: 560614017 ACCOUNT NAME: Toc H Queensland General Members Branch Everyone who supports this initiative will automatically become a Friend of Talbot House and towards the end of each year they will receive a newsletter telling all about Talbot House and the wonderful work being done there.
